Ancient legacy, Contemporary Perspectives

The theme De Rerum Natura has been chosen for Nuit Blanche Kelowna 2025 in reference to the ancient Roman philosophical poem by Lucretius (Lucrèce), written in the 1st century BCE.

In this seminal work, Lucretius explores the nature of the universe, the origins of matter, and humanity’s place within it, challenging myths and encouraging a rational, poetic inquiry into the world.

Today, we believe it is artists who carry on this legacy—those who, through their creative practices, question the world around us, reimagine our connection to nature, and offer new ways of seeing and understanding the forces that shape our time.
